Affective Computing (also known as “emotion AI”, “emote technology”, or “emotion recognition”) is a technology field that bridges the gap between technology and the human emotions. It is an interdisciplinary field that combines computer science and psychology, to develop computing systems that are capable of recognizing, processing, and responding to human emotions. Affective Computing is rapidly becoming more popular and is being integrated in many applications. In gaming, it is being used to create more realistic and immersive experiences, by responding to the player’s emotions. In health care, it is being used to develop better diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. In biometrics, it is being used to more accurately identify individuals, based on their emotions. It is also being used in robotics, to enable robots to better understand and respond to humans.

Affective Computing technology is still in early stages of development, but is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. Several major technology companies, such as Google, Microsoft, IBM and Apple, are investing considerable resources in this technology. With advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and sensor technology, we can expect to see more efficient and powerful Affective Computing systems in the future.
