V-model

The V-model is a graphical representation of the software development process used to test software at different levels. It is also called the Verification and Validation (V&V) model or the Testing V-model. The V-model is a type of waterfall model and is represented by an inverted “V”. This “V” represents the different stages involved in the software development and testing process.

At the beginning of the process, the requirements and design of the software are established. The requirements, which are also known as the customer requirements, are specified in detail. These requirements are then used to develop the software design. A prototype model is then created to represent the software design and ensure that it meets the customer requirements.

Once the prototype is developed then the coding process begins. The programmer codes the software as per the design and requirements. At this stage, the software is integrated and unit tested. In unit testing, the individual modules of the software are tested to ensure that they are functioning correctly.

After the integration test, the system testing is conducted. In system testing, the complete system is tested to ensure that it meets all the requirements. The integration of software modules and the functioning of the system together is tested. After this the acceptance testing is done. This includes user testing and is designed to check whether the customer requirements have been met.

Finally, the software is ready for deployment. It is then delivered to the customer. Once the software is deployed, periodic verification and validation tests are conducted to ensure that the software is functioning correctly and still meets the customer requirements.

Thus, the V-model is a graphical demonstration of the software development life cycle. It is a testing process which is used to ensure that the software meets the customer requirements and is functioning correctly.
