XaaS

XaaS is an acronym for “Anything as a Service,” which is a type of cloud computing delivery model that allows organizations to access technology related services over the internet. In this type of setup, an organization can access needed services without purchasing and managing the infrastructure or software needed to deliver these services.

XaaS is similar to more well-known “As a Service” cloud delivery models like Software as a Service (SaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). In those models, specific services are provided from cloud hosted systems to businesses or individuals that have access to them. The main difference with XaaS is that it goes beyond software and hardware, and is used to access practically any type of service over the Internet, from databases to analytics, encryption services, and more.

Due to the flexible nature of XaaS, there are many uses for it in different forms. XaaS is capable of delivering services that are both “traditional” and “non-traditional”, meaning it can be used for services that might not have been easily obtained from traditional cloud delivery models. For example, it can be used to access advanced analytics, data, and real-time delivery services.

XaaS is growing in popularity due to its flexible nature and cost-reduction opportunities. Organizations are able to register for services they need as they need them, and don’t need to manage or purchase extra infrastructure. This makes it a great option for organizations that require access to constantly changing services, or those with limited resources.
