Internationalized domain names (IDN)

Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) are domain names that support the use of non Latin characters such as Chinese or Arabic. This allows websites to be accessible worldwide. It is a new technology that allows for web addresses to be globalized for people whose native language is not support by the current domain name standards.

IDN was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force in order to maintain the Unicode standard and provide international access to information.
