Abstract data type (ADT)

Abstract Data Types (ADT) are a type of data structure used in computing where data types are defined in terms of the structure they use, not their implementation. ADTs are mainly used for setting up a network of categories of data and allow a user to define custom data types for specific tasks. ADTs can also be used with proxy servers to give a higher level of security to a network, as it’s easier to adapt the data structure for more restrictive settings. The advantage of ADTs is that they can reduce the amount of data transfer that has to occur during certain operations, while still providing the same level of security. This in turn leads to improved performance, and makes it easier to maintain the overall integrity of the network.
